Its just over two weeks until the big Jubilee weekend, and here at Seasons we’re getting the royal spirit of it all with our union jack bunting up already!

Starting on Sunday 3rd June, we’ll be celebrating everything British, with our lovely staff dressed in 50s style costumes and vintage tunes playing! Come down for the Old Amersham street party where we’ll be recreating last year’s hugely succesful royal wedding party. There’ll be prizes for the best dressed and why not bring a picnic to enjoy in the (hopefully) sunny memorial gardens. For an extra indulgent bank holiday weekend, why not leave the hard work to us and pick up our Luxury Jubilee Picnic, menus to arrive soon and picnics can be pre-ordered and picked up on the day!

Visiting a friend for the long weekend? We’ve got plenty of perfect gifts all in the spirit of the jubilee! Tea and coffee with the iconic slogan ‘Keep calm and carry on’ and the ever popular Williamson tea elephants sporting union jacks and London scenes. Perfect for the patriotic brew!

If you prefer punch to pots of tea, then our Belvoir Summer Celebration Punch is perfect for a summer afternoon. Pour over ice with a slice of lime and a dash of gin for an evening cocktail that wows!

If all this drinking is leaving you a little hungry, then our Prestat Jubilee Truffles are sure to hit the spot. Emblazoned with images of gold carriages and queens, these chocolates are not to be missed! Get them while you can!

With all these chocolates, tea caddies, jubilee gingerbread men and punch, you’ll need a little help carrying everything. Enter our limited edition union jack carriers, handily compact in a space-saving pouch and unfolds to reveal a sturdy and statement-making shopper. Join the fashion elite and get yours now!

We have some rather exciting (and indulgent) new arrivals to the shop this week and we thought we would get your mouth watering with a bit of blurb!
Buchanans’ Buttered Brazils are now sitting proudly in our shop for you to spoil yourselves with! Ta-da!
For those in the know, I won’t go on about their buttery deliciousness. But for those who have yet to learn just how wonderful these little foil wrapped goodies are… Each Buttered Brazils is a whole nut coated in mouth-watering, smooth butterscotch, wrapped in a gold foil that can only hint at what gem is inside, they are definitely worth their weight!
Speaking of mouth watering – please forgive me while I go and gobble another one!
If nuts aren’t your “thing”, then how about a bag of our Toffee Crumble? A new addition to the jars which boasts a crumbly mix of milk chocolate, toffee, biscuits and nuts. Judging by how quickly the Seasons girls gobbled them up, I think they’re going to be a permanent fixture in the jars!
I’m thinking of putting a lock on the jars to stop eating them all myself. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it!

We have been very kindly invited to join in with a 1940’s weekend at Buckinghamshire Railway Centre for the weekend of 19th-20th May! We will be taking all of our traditional delicious sweets with us to bring the flavours of the 1940s to the celebrations.
During World War II, sweets were one of the last categories to be de-rationed and until 1953, you had to make just 2 ounces (that’s 60g) last for a week until you could buy more tokens!

We will be there all weekend, from 10.30 – 5.30 along with loads of other exciting experiences reminiscent of the 1940s including artwork, music, military vehicles and re-enactment groups. Come and join us on a trip down memory lane!

We don’t know about you, but this “British Summer” time that brought the clocks forward brought so much promise of sunshine, picnics & barbeques and sunny afternoons lolling through the park with the family. And so, we brought in our delicious creamy ice cream (you may have heard us mention it here and there…).
Lo and behold, the April Showers have arrived, preceded by stories of snow storms up in the Highlands and grizzly drizzly afternoons in the Home Counties. As with most years, we are always surprised when Spring changes its mind from sun to showers, and being British, we like to have a good whinge about it.
But not to write off the year just yet, we’ve had so many of our lovely, loyal customers, braving the hail stones and still heading to us for their usual scoop of Lemon Meringue ice cream (and an extra cone for the puppy!) in spite, or perhaps to spite the weather!
We’re asking you to join us in flying in the face of the English weather, come and enjoy the beautiful town of Old Amersham and its stunning Memorial Gardens, with a scoop in hand….or maybe just some (bah) Humbugs to put a smile back on your face!

We know we probably shouldn’t suggest you do this when you know you can buy the sweet treats from us, but this week, we’re feeling creative. We wanted to know how the old fashioned favourites were really made, and just how they became so popular and we started with the cute little blighters, Sugar Mice.

What you’ll need: (Makes about

450g Granulated sugar
225ml Water
40g Glucose or 2 tbsp golden syrup
String for the tails
Writing icing for decorating the head

How to make them:

1.) Put the sugar and water into a heavy base saucepan, stir over a moderate heat until the sugar melts then add the glucose. Bring to the boil quickly, stirring occasionally until the mixture reaches the soft ball stage at 115 °C. Make sure you don’t beat the fondant mixture in the saucepan as this will make it slightly granular. Allow to cool and stiffen slightly before handling.

2.) Dampen a work surface with warm water, tip the mixture out and leave a bit longer until it’s almost solid. Work the fondant up and down with a spatula or flat bladed knife until it becomes very white and firm in texture.

3.) Animal shaped moulds are ideal for this (but don’t panic if you don’t have any), press the warm fondant into the ungreased moulds and add a small piece of string for the tail. Once they have set, take them out and pipe on the eyes, nose and mouth with icing.

4.) If you do not have any moulds, divide the mixture into equal amounts and wrap the ones you are not handling in cling film so they don’t dry out. To shape the mice, pull off a small amount of fondant and shape the head. Form an oval shape for the body, press the head against the body while the two portions of fondant are soft enough to adhere together. Press the string into the end of the body for the tail and decorate the head. Leave for 24 hours uncovered (if wandering hands won’t get them) to dry then gobble them up!
